Stark Movable Bulkheads

Stark Bulkheads (now part of the S.R.Smith commercial portfolio), have set the standard in fiberglass, monolithic composite bulkheads since 1965. Trusted by K-12 schools, colleges, universities, and world-class natatoriums, they combine durability, speed, and ease of use. These bulkheads allow facilities to transform their pools into multi-use spaces quickly, supporting swim lessons, competitions, sports, and special activities—all while maintaining world-class performance.
How Stark Movable Bulkheads Work
Stark Bulkheads float on the water thanks to their innovative air chamber system. Filling the chambers with air makes the bulkhead naturally buoyant, significantly reducing the force needed to move it and eliminating the need for heavy lifting or complex wheel-and-track systems that can damage pool decks. This allows the bulkhead to be repositioned quickly and effortlessly, making it easy to adjust lanes, divide pool areas, or reconfigure the pool for lessons, competitions, and other activities.
Made entirely of fiberglass with no welded seams or bolts, they are fully non-corrosive and low-maintenance. Each bulkhead is custom-designed to fit your pool’s exact dimensions and colour scheme. | Technical Highlights |

Stark’s monolithic, one-piece fiberglass construction ensures rigidity, durability, and a smooth, stable surface for swimmers. Features like 100% flow-through cutouts, solid lane line anchors, and strong kick-turn support help maximize performance for competitive swimming. Athlete safety is prioritized with no trampoline effect and integrated safety features throughout the bulkhead. Many Stark bulkheads installed decades ago remain in use today, a testament to their enduring quality.
